Kelle has over 10 years of administrative experience at MTSU; she worked most recently in MTSU’s Center for Historic Preservation. The Center for Historic Preservation is a state of Tennessee Center of Excellence, like UT’s Science Alliance, with restricted state funding. In addition to the Center of Excellence funding, she handled state and federal grants and contracts from agencies such as TN Historical Commission, National Parks Service, Library of Congress, etc. Kelle is a graduate of our College of Arts and Sciences. She starts August 19th and will be physically located in 1101 McClung (Classics). This will be the first specialist in grants and contracts that we have had in the Humanities Division. We expect faculty to apply for (and get!) grants, and she will be able to help them with budgeting, pre-award, and post-award accounting for their grants. She will also handle non-sponsored project contracts such as contracts required for conferences, speakers, etc. where we have had some compliance issues. Faculty – and Department Heads and Deans - cannot enter into contracts on behalf of the University. If they unwittingly enter into contracts, they assume personal liability and risk. Contracts have to go through the Contracts Management System and be signed by the Vice Chancellor of Finance or the Vice President of Finance. Kelle will be helping faculty with contracts and entering them into the Contract Management System.
