Why religion and nonprofit leadership?
Religion is an important part of the nonprofit world: in addition to nonprofits with religious missions, many other nonprofit organizations work with religiously diverse groups of people or other forms of religious diversity.
Do I have to be religious?
Students in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership can belong to any religion or no religion. Religious Studies is about studying what religion is and why it matters. Anyone can major or minor in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership!
What skills will I learn?
Majoring or minoring in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership will give you a broad understanding of religion in global perspective, and it will give you specific leadership skills for working in the nonprofit sector.
What do these programs involve?
Minors in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership only require five courses, including Method and Theory in Religious Studies (REST 300) and Religion and Nonprofit Leadership (REST 301).
Majors in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership will additionally complete internships with a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of their choice that falls into one or more of the following categories:
- religious
- non-religious
- sports
- environment
- the arts
- education
- media
- history and culture
- and more!
