The F. Stanley Lusby and John O. Hodges Teaching Award recognizes outstanding teaching efforts, particularly by junior faculty or lecturers, and can also be used to support undergraduate research travel expenses. The award is established in recognition of two of our emeritus colleagues whose own exceptional teaching laid the foundation for generations of teachers and students to come.
2022 Award
Kamar Afra and Nicole Lussier were awarded the 2022 F. Stanley Lusby and John O. Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2021 Award
Tara Baldrick-Morrone and Michael Naparstek were awarded the 2021 F. Stanley Lusby and John O. Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2020 Award
Randal Hepner was awarded the 2020 F. Stanley Lusby and John O. Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2019 Award
David Kline was the 2019 recipient of the Lusby and Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2018 Award
Jennifer Collins-Elliott was the 2018 recipient of the Lusby and Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2017 Award
Emily Johnson was the 2017 recipient of the Lusby and Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2016 Award
Sarah Dees was the 2016 recipient of the Lusby and Hodges Teaching Award for excellence in teaching.
2015 Award
Robert Cremins, Kirby Trovillo, and Felipe Oliveira were the 2015 recipients of the Lusby and Hodges Award for Excellence in undergraduate research. All three students presented their research at the annual meeting of the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion (SECSOR).
2014 Award
Dr. Erin Darby, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and specialist in Hebrew Bible and early Judaism wins the first teaching award of the new F. Stanley Lusby and John O. Hodges Teaching Endowment. The award was presented at the launching of the Endowment on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with donors, family, and friends present at Copper Cellar West.
