Arnold Cohen

Mr. Arnold Cohen was named an East Tennessee Civil Rights Pioneer by Knox County in 2009, and received the 2019 Diversity Award from UTK’s College of Communication and Information in recognition of his lifelong commitment to helping our community build bridges across racial, ethnic, and religious differences.  Arnold continues to work as an attorney in Knoxville, while also continuing decades of racial justice work in our region.  He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Race Relations Center of East Tennessee, the Knoxville Jewish Alliance Board of Directors, UT’s Chancellor’s Task Force on Civility and Community, and the Board of Directors of the Beck Cultural Exchange Center, and he has served the Heska Amuna congregation for decades, including as Chairman of the Board and President. He is a Charter member of the Board of Visitors for the Department of Religious Studies since the Board’s founding in 2004, and we value his contributions and insights enormously.
