Dr. Samuel Pomeroy received his PhD from the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leuven, Belgium. From 2020-2024 he worked at the “Research Center for Religion and Politics” and the “Origen Research Center” of the University of Münster, Germany. His primary research interest is how Jewish and Christian religious texts have shaped and continue to shape concepts of the public square, collective identity, freedom, and political sovereignty. Dr. Pomeroy’s work spans historical time periods, connecting ancient and modern authors, with concentrations in the 4th and 20th centuries. Recent articles of his have appeared in Modern Theology, Vigiliae Christianae, and Political Theology. In 2022, he won the Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise.
