HANDS ON
EXPERIENCE
As an undergraduate-focused department, Religious Studies offers students ample opportunities to work one-on-one with faculty in daily classes, independent study projects, and research.
Faculty regularly offer independent studies, upper-level research seminars, and co-curricular research opportunities for undergraduates, generating regular participation in campus, state, and national undergraduate research events, and discipline-specific conferences in religious studies and related fields.
The Department has funds to support travel and expenses (up to $500) related to undergraduate research—locally, nationally, or internationally.
Religion & Nonprofit Leadership Internships
The University of Tennessee’s Department of Religious Studies has a new major concentration and minor in Religion and Nonprofit Leadership.
Active Undergraduate Research
Majors and minors in Religious Studies are invited to submit their research for the department’s Undergraduate Research Award, which includes a $200 prize.
